Robert Youngkin is a Marine Corps veteran, engineering executive, mentor, and leadership practitioner dedicated to helping professionals become effective people leaders. Throughout his military and corporate career, he has observed a recurring challenge: high-performing individual contributors are often promoted into management roles with little preparation for the realities of leading others.
After serving in Iraq in 2003, Robert earned degrees in Engineering, Management, and Business. He currently serves as a Director of Engineering for a major defense contractor and is pursuing a Doctorate in Management degree, focused on leadership and organizational effectiveness.
Drawing on more than two decades of leadership experience, Robert wrote From Individual Contributor to Manager of People to provide aspiring and new managers with practical guidance, transparency, and a realistic understanding of what it means to lead people successfully.
Robert has been married to his wife, Jill, for more than 20 years and is the proud father of three boys. He believes leadership is not defined by title or authority, but by the positive impact we have on the growth and success of others.
